|ROAD DIESELS (Including Leased Units)|
#Equipment previously in this series (e.g., turboliners, GP40s, F40s, etc.) was renumbered
*Out of service P42s as of 01/01/12: 8, 49, 70, 80, 100, 121, 128, 141, 174, 178, 187; 143 & 149 have been retired. An active fleet total other than 195 indicates some of these units have been returned to service, or others added to the inactive list, since 12/31/12.
**Some Amtrak F40s are still in service elsewhere or preserved.
***These units were rebuilt from the former Go Transit GP40s by NS at the Juniata Locomotive Shops with the same numbers as now: 520-527.
****Further information can be found here. Several of these units were rebuilt by Beech Grove in 2009-2011 to P42 standards through the "ARRA" program.
|*Units received from CSX in exchange for title to F40 Nos. 390 and 395.
**Ordered from Motive Power Industries in May, 2004. Delivery began in November, 2004, and all 10 were delivered to Bear, DE, by February, 2005. Initial reports had these classified as MP15Bs, nameplate data calls them GP15s and Amtrak refers to them as GP15D.
