The original Surfliners, manufactured by Alstom, were delivered in 2000. Beginning in 2008, these cars had names applied. Additional "California Surfliners" were delivered from Alstom in 2002; these cars are owned by California. The cars destined for use on the Surfliner service are listed in the blue cells, and cars destined for use on the Capitol Corridor/San Joaquin services are listed in the orange cells.
