CSX Updates Flooding Impact in Northeast
September 8, 2011 4 p.m. - Flooding in parts of the Northeast has slowed trains and may result in some shipment delays.
Heavy rainfall in areas that already are saturated has led to overflowing rivers and flooding in areas around Albany, N.Y., the New York metropolitan area, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Track outages of up to 24 hours are expected in some areas, and some trains may be re-routed. Customers can expect 24-48 hour delays as crews work to restore service.
The company's Customer Service Center is coordinating with affected shippers and receivers.

CSX Service Bulletin, 9/11:
CSX Updates Impact of Flooding
September 11, 2011 - 1:15 p.m. Eastern - CSX's major rail lines in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions are beginning to operate normally following localized and occasionally severe flooding. However, a significant backlog of traffic continues to be processed, and some delays should be expected for the next few days.
Heavy rainfall over the last several days, combined with water-saturated ground and overflowing waterways, interrupted service on many lines. Yesterday, utility lines sagged across CSX's mainline in upstate New York at Amsterdam, stopping train traffic for several hours until utility crews could make repairs. Those tracks have re-opened, along with CSX's Washington, D.C.-Richmond, Va., line following repairs of a washout.
The company's Customer Service Center is continuing to coordinate with affected shippers and receivers.
