Baltimore, MD Banner,   6/24/24:

Light rail or bus rapid transit? Officials near announcement on mode of future Red Line.

Roughly a year after Gov. Wes Moore revived plans for the Red Line, an east-west rapid transit project that would link East and West Baltimore, officials are gearing up to answer the potentially billion-dollar question: Will it be a train or a bus?

Article here.     What may be having them think of bus rather than rail is the mistakes of the existing line, which runs north-south along Howard Street  but lacks signal pre-emption, thus a ride across town takes forever.   So since they can't seem to figure that out, a rail line would have to be put underground thus inflating the costs.    A bus line without priority at intersections would be nothing more than what the city already has with its existing bus routes.  They need to cough up the money and put the Red Line underground.
