Several more exciting heritage locomotives to come in the near future. Enjoy!”

CSX Heritage: Locomotive 1900 Honoring the Seaboard Air Line Railroad

CSX

Aug 29, 2024

CSX Locomotive #1900 is officially here, honoring the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL)! When the SAL was established in 1900, an ‘air line’ referred to the shortest, straight-line distance between two points rather than air travel. SAL’s rail network contributed greatly to the economic development of the Southeastern United States until the railroad merged with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1967 to become the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, and eventually part of CSX. Our #ONECSX team at the Waycross Mechanical Shop did a great job bringing this heritage locomotive to life!

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The 19th heritage locomotive in the CSX fleet is No. 1851, a tribute to predecessor railroad Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis.

CEO Joe Hinrichs unveiled the locomotive today in a post on LinkedIn, as has been customary.
“The NC&StL railroad was founded in 1845 and was acquired in a hostile takeover by the Louisville & Nashville (L&N) railroad in 1880,” Hinrichs wrote. “The NC&StL played an important role – for both sides – in the Civil War. The original rail line between Nashville, Chattanooga, and Atlanta is still an important part of our CSX network today. Another great job by our team in Waycross, Ga. Enjoy!”

CSX Heritage: Locomotive 1851 Honoring the Nashville,

Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway

CSX

Sep 20, 2024

Help us welcome the newest addition to the CSX heritage fleet: Locomotive 1851, honoring the historic Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway (NC&StL). Operating from 1851 to 1957, the NC&StL was a vital freight and passenger route, connecting communities across Tennessee and into other southern states and driving regional growth. A big thank you to our #ONECSX team in Waycross, GA, for helping CSX keep NC&StL's legacy alive with this commemorative locomotive.
