BOSTON - The MBTA announced the Winchester Center Station on its Lowell Commuter Rail Line will partially reopen on September 30th.

The announcement comes after construction on station improvements began in 2022. Previously, the station had not received any major upgrades since the 1950s. The partial opening means the south end of the station will be accessible, and passengers can ride both inbound and outbound. According to the most recent update from the MBTA, the station is scheduled to be fully open Winter 2025. With a budget of $50 million, the station’s renovation includes demolishing the old station and completing structural repairs for safety and accessibility.
