And that's the headling for this story.
Transportation center slated for Newport News
A $38 million multi-modal transportation center in Newport News is scheduled to begin construction in 2016.
The station will be able to accommodate four Amtrak trains a day..
And now the truth. The existing Newport News station already handles 4 trains -- 2 round trips -- per day. They are namely trains 66, 67, 94 and 95 on Mondays through Thursdays, and 66, 67, 99, and 194 on weekends. On Fridays, there are five revenue trains calling there - 66, 67, 83, 94, and 95, plus a non-revenue train 78 moving Friday's extra equipment set back to Richmond to be train 82 on Saturday morning.Currently, Amtrak runs two trains a day from the Newport New station at 9306 Warwick Blvd. So far, no decision has been made about the future of the existing station, Lee said.

Here we are over 4 years after the last post, and we are still looking ahead at this facility.... and another 2 years away from fruition. From Newport News, VA Daily Press, 7/22/20:
Long-awaited transportation hub, Amtrak station in Newport News slated to open in two years
A hub in Newport News for rail, buses, taxis and airport shuttles has been in the works for a decade, and on Tuesday, officials ceremonially broke ground at the site.
The train numbers I listed in 2014 have changed. Pre-Coronavirus (and hopefully post-Coronavirus), Newport News is served by trains 66, 67, 125, and 174 on weekdays. On Saturdays the list is 65, 66, 99, and 194. On Sundays, it is 65, 66, 96, and 99. There is no longer a Friday extra round trip. 94 and 95 swapped termini with 125 & 174, so that the former now run to Norfolk instead.
